They can teach a child how to think about how to overcome an obstacle and solve a puzzle. It is strategic thinking that they can carry into their adult lives. It is recommended that parents choose carefully the games and programs that they download. It should be something age appropriate to avoid the child getting frustrated and give up. A child needs something that is challenging, but not impossible to complete. The Internet offers millions of downloadable games and activities for children of all ages. It is important that the parent screens the games before their child or children use them. Allowing older children to pick the subjects and activities that interest them. If they enjoy science, then download a program that he or she can do a science project on the computer. If you have a mathematically genius, then download math projects. It can be fascinating for a child and they are learning at the same time. If you want to spend more time with your child, you can make computer time quality time spent with your child. Sit with them when they are at the computer and encourage them, when they complete an area of the program praise them. If you can replace television time with computer time, you are not only assisting them with their education, you are creating fun filled family time that your children will really respond to.
